Pay: $16.00-$18.00, depending on experience
Schedule: The Warming Center runs overnight; schedule and hours will vary based on program needs. Ability to work 2nd/3rd shift is a MUST.
Position Summary
A Warming Center Staff position provides direct support to guests utilizing warming center services and helps maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all guests, staff, and volunteers. Staff are responsible for completing guest intake, explaining and enforcing center policies, monitoring guest safety and well-being, maintaining accurate documentation, responding appropriately to emergencies, and assisting with general facility operations.
This position requires individuals who can communicate clearly and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds, including individuals experiencing homelessness, individuals with disabilities, and individuals with histories of substance use or involvement with the criminal justice system. Staff must be able to remain calm and professional when responding to challenging situations and must follow established safety and confidentiality procedures.
Essential Responsibilities
· Guest Intake & Support: This will include the use of a computerized data entry system, basic computer skills are desired
· Safety, Security & Policy Enforcement: Monitoring guests and the facility for potential safety concerns and ensuring all staff, volunteers, and guests follow the rules of operation
· Documentation & Confidentiality: Protect guest privacy in all verbal, written, and electronic communication
· Facility Operations & Housekeeping: Ensure all areas of the Warming Center are neat, and organized and that any issues are reported to the Program Director in a timely matter
· Teamwork & Professional Conduct: Treat all guests, coworkers, volunteers, and visitors with dignity, respect, and professionalism
Required Minimum Qualifications
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· High School Diploma or GED required
· Must be willing and able to complete a required background check
· Must be able to maintain confidentiality and protect guests’ personal information
· Must be able to communicate respectfully and professionally with guests, coworkers, volunteers, and community members
· Must be able to work as part of a team and follow established policies and procedures
· Must be able to respond appropriately to emergencies and safety concerns
· Current CPT, First Aid, AED, Narcan, and/or CRPA certification, or willingness to obtain required certifications
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position involves working directly with members of the public in a warming center environment. Employees should be comfortable working with individuals who may be experiencing homelessness and other challenges or difficult circumstances. This position will require:
· Standing and walking for extended periods of time
· Assisting with cleaning and housekeeping tasks
· Moving and storing bedding, cots, and supplies
· Responding quickly to safety concerns or emergencies
· Remaining calm and professional during stressful or unpredictable situations
· Working overnight, early morning, weekend, holiday, or other non-traditional shifts as scheduled

Position Summary
The Security Staff position is responsible for helping maintain a safe, peaceful, respectful, and clean environment for guests, staff, volunteers, and visitors at the warming center. This position provides a visible safety presence throughout the facility and surrounding areas, monitors guest activity, helps enforce center policies, and responds appropriately to safety concerns and emergencies.
Security staff should be comfortable working with individuals experiencing homelessness, individuals with disabilities, and individuals with histories of substance use or criminal justice involvement. The ideal candidate is observant, calm under pressure, professional, and able to recognize and respond appropriately to potentially difficult or escalating situations.
Essential Responsibilities
· Safety & Security: Monitoring guests and the facility for potential safety concerns and ensuring all staff, volunteers, and guests follow the rules of operation
· Guest Safety & Facility Policies: Greet guests and explain applicable center rules and expectations, enforcing said rules and expectations throughout the entire shift
· Guest Searches & Prohibited Items: Conduct guest and/or belongings searches only as permitted by organizational policy and applicable training, following organizational procedures regarding securing, disposing of, or requiring removal of prohibited items
· De-Escalation & Emergency Response: Use verbal de-escalation and other approved techniques to help prevent conflicts from escalating, calling 911 when needed for medical assistance and/or law enforcement
· Documentation & Confidentiality: Maintain documentation and security logs, ensuring strict confidentiality guidelines are followed when handling guest information
